Shopian: A military operation against militants has started in Melhoora area of Zainapora tehsil in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday evening.

Official sources said that a joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them ensuing the operation.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between armed forces personnel and militants.
