Former star cricketer and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has won a Twitter poll organised by International Cricket Council (ICC) against four counterparts chosen from different countries including India’s Virat Kohli.

On Tuesday, ICC ran a poll to decide the best cricketer as a captain. The intention of the poll was to seek the opinion of the public regarding the greatest player as captain.
The ICC, through a series of tweets, put out infographics explaining how averages of players improved after these players became captain of their respective sides.
The ICC poll included four legendary cricketers Pakistan’s former captain and current Prime Minister Imran Khan, Virat Kohli from India, South Africa captain AB de Villiers and Australia women’s cricket team skipper Meg Lanning.
Soon as the voting began, Imran began trending and votes started to pour in favour of Imran Khan and he emerged victorious in the ICC poll.
In the poll, Imran Khan received 47.3 percent of the total 5,36,346 votes, Virat Kohli had 46.2 per cent, AB de Villiers received seven percent and the Australian women’s team captain Meg Lanning received one percent.
Interestingly, it was not just Pakistanis who supported their cricketer, because of his worldwide fan following the votes in the Twitter poll began emerging from different countries including India.
Not surprisingly, sections of the right wing hindu indian media claimed that there was rigging in the poll where “anti-modi Indians voted for Imran Khan to make Virat Kohli lose.”
