Lal Chowk, the commercial center of Srinagar, observed a shutdown for the second day as a delegation of foreign envoys, including ambassadors and diplomats from the European Union is in the region.

Shops in the city’s central hub were shut, however, traffic movement was close to normal.

On Wednesday, several parts of Srinagar’s downtown also remained shut while government forces’ personnel were deployed in the Nowhatta area.

India has taken a group of diplomats from European and Gulf countries to Jammu and Kashmir on February 17 and 18.

The visit follows the restoration of 4G internet services in Kashmir after an 18-month-long ban, after India abrogated Article 370 which granted Kashmir autonomy.

Reports said, a series of bunkers were removed from various parts of Srinagar city ahead of the visit of European Union delegation.
