‘Islamophobic writer’ Taslima Nasreen has come under severe criticism after she posted a hateful tweet about an international cricketer Moeen Ali.
The author, who is known for her open criticism of Islam, took to Twitter and wrote: “If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS”.
After having deleted the tweet, the author took to Twitter again to issue a clarification. She claimed that her remarks were sarcastic and that an issue was made about her tweets to “humiliate her” because she tries to make “Muslim society more secular.”
Haters know very well that my Moeen Ali tweet was sarcastic. But they made that an issue to humiliate me because I try to secularize Muslim society & I oppose Islamic fanaticism. One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists.

The author’s tweet came in the wake of several reports stating that Moeen Ali, who is playing for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL, asked for the logo of an alcohol brand to be removed from his jersey.
The now-deleted tweet received a lot of backlash from people including cricketers calling her tweet “disgusting” and advising her to delete it.
England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer, batsman Sam Billings and Saqib Mahmood were among those who tore into the author’s offensive post.
