‘Quench your lust’: Indian accounts steal Eid pictures of Pakistani women, live-stream ‘auctioning’, make bids

Indian accounts stole pictures of Muslim women mostly from Pakistan during Eid, ‘auctioning’ them for bids on Twitter and YouTube.

Indian right-wing accounts have been found to be preying on Muslim women during Eid.

A YouTube channel called ‘Liberal Doge Live’ known for its brazenly Islamophobic content even live streamed pictures of Muslim women mostly from Pakistan.

The YouTube channel with over 14,000 subscribers had streamed stolen pictures of Pakistani women on its channel. The description said, “quench your lust with your eyes.”

Indian transparency activist Saket Gokhale claims that one of the perpetrators is from Bihar.

Another Indian journalist Rohini Singh in a tweet to Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand asked for action against another perpetrator from Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand state government has ordered probe against the culprits.

Many Muslim women have also spoken out about a bidding that ‘auctions’ off women on a daily basis on Twitter.

The perpetrators have taken down their content or locked their accounts to private. But people are demanding action against them.

It has also put the question on platforms like Twitter, which have been accused of complacency towards women safety by right-wing accounts in India.

A 2020 report Toxic Twitter by Amnesty International questioned the platform for not doing enough to protect women from online violence and abuse despite repeated promises.
