Srinagar: A 37-year-old detenue from Brath Kalan area of Baramulla’s Sopore died at a district jail Kupwara, officials said on Sunday.
They said the inmate identified as Lateef Ahmed Mir, son of Hamza Mir, was arrested in case of FIR No 15/2021 under section 376 (rape), 342 (wrong confinement) registered at police station Sopore and was under judicial custody in district jail Kupwara from February 5, 2021.
“He was under quarantine after testing COVID positive. His test had returned negative. Yesterday he was shifted to hospital and died,” officials said.
