NIA raids 5 locations in Bandipora in militancy-related case

Bandipora: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted raids at five locations in north Kashmir’s Bandipora linked to Jamaat-e-Islami.

In a statement, NIA said raids were conducted at five locations in Jammu and Kashmir in Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) militant funding case (RC-03/2021/NIA/DLI)

It further stated: “Today (09,08,2021), in continuation of the searches conducted against JeI yesterday, NIA along with JK Police and CRPF conducted searches at five places in District Bandipora in case RC-03/2021/NIA/DLI”.

Searches conducted today included the premises of office bearers and members of the proscribed association, JeI, the statement said.

During the searches, various “incriminating documents and electronic devices” were seized from the premises of the suspects. Further investigation in the case continues, reads the statement.

On Sunday, the NIA conducted raids at 56 locations in 14 districts of JK which were reported to be residences of Jamaat-e-Islami members.

The searches, conducted along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, began early in the day and were going on till the evening.

They were carried out in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam districts and Jammu’s Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, and Rajouri districts.
