Civilian, 2 armed forces personnel injured in grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: Two armed forces personnel and a civilian were injured in a grenade attack in Srinagar on Thursday evening, officials said.

The grenade was hurled on a joint team of police and CRPF at Saraf Kadal, resulting in injuries to a civilian Fayaz Ahmad Matoo, 40, of Khawajabazar and two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel Javid Ahmad Bhat and Abdul Majeed Bhat.

Officials said that the condition of both the cops from Police Post Urdubazar Srinagar as well as the civilian is stable at SHMS hospital where they were shifted soon after sustaining the injuries.

Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital also confirmed that the trio was admitted to the hospital.

A police officer confirmed the grenade blast and said that a case has been registered. He said that the area was immediately cordoned off and searches were launched.
