Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested a man in an “extortion” case and recovered “one lakh rupees” from his possession.
The man Ashiq Mir, according to Kashmir Age report, is one of the associates of Imran Ahmad Ganai (Shahid Imran), running a social media page –Kashmir Crown—in connection with the case of exhortation.
The report quoting officials said that a case under IPC sections of 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered in Baramulla against Ashiq Mir.
A police official has also confirmed the arrest of Mir, the report said, adding, further investigations are underway.
The report quoting official sources said that Rs one lakh “extortion money” has been recovered so far from him. However, they said, investigations are underway and details would be shared at the appropriate time.
