Rajouri: A military operation against militants is underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Earlier, an armed forces personnel was injured in the operation.
The operation started in higher reaches of Barote Village Sunday morning, officials said.
They said that a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in the area after having specific input about the presence of some militants.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and armed forces to news agency Global News Service on Sunday.
Late in the afternoon, he said, the armed forces personnel identified as Jiwan Kumar of army’s 9 PARA was injured and provided treatment. The searches in the area are underway, the officer added.
