Srinagar: The students pursuing their degree through distance mode in the University of Kashmir have demanded a change in exam timing.

The students said that it is very difficult for them to reach the university at 10: 00, in the morning, and report to the examination centre in this bone chilling winter.

Several students told that they have been asking authorities to conduct their third-semester exam since August this year but nothing has been done till now due to unknown reasons.

Students said that PG is supposed to get completed in two years and being a student of 2018, three years have already passed but they have given just two semesters.

“Since August we have been requesting authorities to conduct our exams online as classes were also given online but neither online nor offline exams were conducted till now. But now the date sheet has been issued and our exams are starting from 26th this month and timing has been kept at 10:00 am,” they said.

“How is it possible to reach examination centre Srinagar at 10:00 am in this bone-chilling winter,” they said.

“I am from Kulgam and like me, there are many other students who are from far off places. How can we reach examination centres so early in the morning,” said a student from Kulgam.

“We have been requesting authorities since the last several months to conduct our exams, but now why bone chilling winter was chosen and that too with 10 am timing.”

He said that if students have given classes online then authorities should have conducted our exams online.

“We have taken up this issue in the notice of higher-ups already who told us to wait for two days but after two days passed no official is receiving our calls,” students said.

“We went to university as well where the director wasn’t in his office. Then we met with the controller examination who asked us to go to the joint controller examination. When we put forward our request before him, he told us that if we can come for classes in winter then why not for exams,” they said.

Director Distance Education University of Kashmir Tariq Chisti, said that, “only controller examination can change examination timing.”
