Militant recently killed in Anantnag was likely last surviving militant involved in Pulwama attack: IGP

‘We are going for DNA sample matching’

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday said that one of the militants killed on December 30, 2021, military operation in south Kashmir’s Anantnag is possibly Samir Dar, the last surviving militant involved in Lethpora, Pulwama attack in which 40 armed forces personnel were killed.

The IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the picture of one of the killed militants in Anantnag military operation that took place on December 30, 2021, matches with JeM top commander Samir Dar, who was the last surviving militant involved on February 14, 2019, Lethpora Pulwama attack in which 40 armed forces personnel were killed.

“We are going for DNA sample matching,” IGP Kashmir said.

Earlier, three militants were killed in a nightlong military operation on December 30, 2021, in Shahabad Dooru area of Anantnag.

Pertinently, at least 49 armed forces personnel were killed in a militant attack in Lethpora Pulwama on February 14, 2019.
