Anantnag A military operation against militants has started in Sirhama area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning, police said.
Police officials said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 3 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
A top police official also confirmed the exchange of fire between militants and armed forces.
