Manoj Sinha flags off first batch of Amarnath pilgrims from Jammu base camp

Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday flagged off the first batch of Amarnath yatra from Jammu base camp towards the holy cave in south Kashmir.

“Flagged off the first batch of pilgrims, as they set off to Shri Amarnath Ji Cave Shrine from Jammu base camp. Prayed for the peace, prosperity and a safe spiritual journey for pilgrims, “the office of LG Sinha tweeted.

Earlier on Monday, the Inspector general of police Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar held a final review meeting related to yatra in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The meeting, as per officials, was attended by top officials from the police, army, CRPF, ITBP and BSF.

They said that GOC Victor Force, IG CRPF, DIGs of BSF, ITBP, CRPF and JKP besides all districts SSPs and COs of south Kashmir attended the meeting.

The officials added that “real threats and counter measures” being taken by armed forces were reviewed.

Notably, Amarnath yatra is going to commence on June 30 this year amid unprecedented arrangements made by the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
