Srinagar: A man was arrested for allegedly providing a secondhand two-wheeler to an active militant Momin Gulzar last month, police said on Monday, adding, the vehicle was recovered during a military operation in Srinagar on Sunday.

Police said that Umer Mukhtar Naqeeb, son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Natipora arrested for providing a secondhand two-wheeler (scooty) to an active militant Momin Gulzar on 27,07,2022. The scooty along with arms, ammunition, explosives, clothes and other incriminating material was recovered yesterday after ‘chance’ military operation against militants.

“Umer mukhtar Naqeeb S/o Bashir ahmad R/o Natipora arrested for providing a 2nd hand scooty to active terrorist Momin Gulzar on 27.07.2022. This scooty along with arms/ammunition/explosives/clothes/other incriminating material was recovered yesterday after chance encounter,” Srinagar police said in a Tweet.

Earlier on Sunday evening, police said that vehicle used by two militants, associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has been seized while one rifle and two grenades have also been recovered in Nowhatta during the operation.

Police in a tweet said that vehicle (scooter) used by two LeT militants has been seized from the operation site.

“Besides, one Ak-74 rifle and two grenades have been recovered while the search is still going on,” police said.

On Sunday evening, police informed a militant and a personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police were injured in the ongoing military operation.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police in a tweet had said that a cop identified as Constable Sarfaraz Ahmad of Batote, Ramban was injured. The cop, as police informed this morning, succumbed to his injuries.

Pertinently, police in a recent tweet, warned general public of any help to militants and said police will take its action otherwise.

“Public is informed not to extend logistics to terrorists, failing which law will take it own course. Further, public especially hospitals/clinics/doctors are requested to give information about any unknown person(s) coming for treatment as fleeing terrorist(s) are injured,” the Tweet mentioned.
