Srinagar: The Ministry for Rural Development India on Friday approved Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-Phase-III for 1,276 kilometres costing Rs 1,357 crore for Jammu and Kashmir
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and GoI Minister for Rural Development, Giriraj Singh.
Terming the approval for PMGSY-III as yet another milestone in the rural connectivity of JK, the Lt Governor said that the modern rural infrastructure, enhanced connectivity will improve the rural economy and ease of living.
It will provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected Habitations for sustainable and inclusive growth, the Lt Governor further added.
Pertinently, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Jammu and Kashmir is amongst the best performing States/UTs in the country.
With the mission of ensuring safety, connectivity, and mobility to every village, 2,353 PMGSY projects covering 17,336 km connecting 2071 habitations have already been completed. In 2021-22, 3284 Kms PMGSY roads were constructed, and 7301 Kms were blacktopped. Further, 125 bridges are to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to provide connectivity to far-flung areas.
