On Monday, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have called off a ceasefire agreed with the government of Pakistan in June and ordered its fighters to stage attacks across the country.

The TTP issued a statement saying, “as military operations are ongoing against mujahideen in different areas … so it is imperative for you to carry out attacks wherever you can in the entire country,” international news agency AFP reported.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a separate entity to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The report said the fighters of Taliban were largely driven out of Pakistan into neighbouring Afghanistan from 2010 but have been emboldened by the Afghan Taliban’s return to power in Kabul.

Earlier in June, the TTP agreed a ceasefire with the government of Pakistan but both sides have repeatedly claimed the truce was ignored and there have been numerous clashes, the news agency added.
