Bandipora: Authorities have started helicopter services from Bandipora to Gurez so that the far-flung area remains connected during winter, officials said on Monday.

An official told Kashmir News Observer that residents of far-flung villages of Gurez valley along the Line of Control (LoC) can now travel during winter months when the road to the Valley remains disconnected.

He said that around six stations have been established including Srinagar to Gurez, Gurez to Bandipora, Bandipora to Kanzalwan, Bandipora to Badugam and Bandipora to Baduaab.

The service, officials said will be a relief for the sick, students and employees who often get stuck due to road blockades during inclement weather in winter months.

The official said that the valley has limited medical facilities so people especially in winter months suffer a lot in case of any medical emergencies.

The district administration will try to keep the services open amid heavy snowfall also so that people will not suffer especially in case of any medical emergency. (KNO)
