24 mutton shops sealed during market checking in Srinagar, say officials

Srinagar: The Enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) on Saturday conducted a market checking drive in various areas of Srinagar city.

During market checking 141 business establishments were inspected and a penal sum of Rs 23,000 was collected as a fine from 16 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, of 1955. Besides, 24 mutton shops were also sealed.

During the month of December 2022, Rs 9,36,200 were collected as fine from 1,961 erring traders for violating E.C Act. Besides, 260 establishments also stand sealed.

Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in the future. The drive will continue in the same passion in the future as well and whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice.
