Jammu: Indian Army has proposed a housing colony in Jammu city for the retired personnel as well as kin of killed armed forces personnel. The domicile of Jammu and Kashmir is basic eligibility for the same.
“Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) Board of Governors, Jammu, has approved a housing project and conducted a demand survey advertisement, fulfilling the longstanding demand of our Jammu and Kashmir veterans. You can apply for this project with your domicile certificate from January 15 to April30,” General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi said while addressing a rally in Rajouri.
He added that the land acquisition will be done based on the response received and the project will start soon.
He said a hostel for children of those killed and ex-servicemen in Srinagar is in the tender stage and it is targeted to be completed at the earliest in the financial year 2023-24.
“Demand Survey for Jammu City for Group Housing project is being carried out by AWHO from January 14 to April 30 to ascertain the demand from serving / retired Army personnel, widows and parents of deceased Army personnel who are in receipt of family pension,” reads the notification by AWHO.
“The project will be planned based on the response as the demand surveys are conducted to assess and ascertain feasibility of any proposed housing project or scheme,” the notification reads.
