A Palestinian teenager ‏succumbed on Monday to wounds sustained by Israeli gunfire two weeks ago during an Israeli military raid into the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that 16-year-old Muntasser Al-Shawa died yesterday of serious wounds he sustained after being shot by an Israeli sniper with a live bullet that penetrated his head from behind his ear and exited through the mouth during a military raid into Nablus’s Balata refugee camp on February 8, Quds News Network reported.

Muntasser was reportedly on a ventilator for 12 days before succumbing to his injuries.

The 16-year-old boy is the 12th Palestinian child killed by Israeli forces in 2023, and the 11th killed in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed 51 Palestinians, including 12 children and an elderly woman, since the start of 2023, according to the health ministry. Among them is the sick Palestinian prisoner Ahmed Ali who died in Israeli custody due to Israel’s systematic medical negligence.

Israeli forces and settlers killed 35 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, including eight children, in January, making January the bloodiest month for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since 2015, the ministry of health said.
