Kishtwar: A helicopter of the Indian Army crashed in the Kishtwar area of Jammu region on Thursday morning. Pilots have suffered injuries, reports said.

A three-member chopper ALH Dhruv took off from Kishtwar to Marwah and soon after crashed at Village Machna. The HAL Dhruv is a utility helicopter designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The crashing site, officials said, is without connectivity hence there is a delay in detailed information.

Reports quoting sources said that the condition of the pilot is critical. The cause of the crash is not yet known while the Indian Army has not issued any statement yet.

Emergency services have been deployed to the site of the crash, and rescue efforts are currently underway. The wreckage of the chopper was found in the Marusudar River, which flows in the Kishtwar district.

This comes a month after two pilots were killed as a military aviation Cheetah helicopter that was flying an operational sortie crashed in Arunachal Pradesh. The chopper had lost contact with the Air Traffic Control before the mishap.
