Anjuman Auqaf demands end to house detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar on Friday expressed concern over continuous house detention of Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq and demanded his immediate release.

In a statement, the Auqaf said that today is the 194th consecutive Friday when he was not allowed to perform Friday prayer.

It said that they are unable to understand why he has been kept under continuous detention and is not allowed to carry out his activities and other responsibilities.

“With each passing day, people are expressing their concern over his prolonged detention and due to his absence the pulpit of Jamia Masjid Srinagar continues to remain silent. The efforts of social reform activities are also severely affected due to his detention.”

Meanwhile, the Anjuman paid rich tributes to the long-time associate of Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah (RA), Khwaja Abdul Salam Dalal, on his death anniversary.

It also expressed grief over the demise of Mohammad Aslam Fazili, who was a very compassionate person and a well-wisher of the Anjuman and had a deep association with Mirwaiz family. The deceased passed away in America.

It expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family of Muhammad Aslam Fazili and prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed soul besides patience to the bereaved family members.

On the occasion of Friday prayer, Imam-e-Hai Moulana Ahmad Saeed Naqshbandi led ththdateha prayers for Khwaja Abdul Salaam Dalal and Mohammad Aslam Fazili.
