275 posts vacant at SMHS Hospital, reveals RTI

Srinagar: A right to information (RTI) plea has revealed that 275 posts of different categories are pending at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital Srinagar.

At least 2,169 patients have died within a span of 9 months at SMHS Hospital Srinagar, reveals the official record.

These deaths occurred in the hospital from January 2022 to September 2022. The patients have died due to multiple causes.

In response to an application filed under the Right to Information Act by social activist MM Shuja, the hospital authorities have revealed that it has conducted 15,726 surgeries during the same period of time.

The hospital records reveal that it has done 14177 registrations of patients under the Golden Card Scheme for which it has established 6 registration counters.

As far as the development of new infrastructure is concerned, the hospital has said that no such new structures were erected; however, there is a project (separate OT Block) under progress within the premises of the SMHS Hospital which is about to be completed in the near future. [KNT]
