‘Negligence’: DC orders inquiry as woman dies after giving birth in Pulwama

Pulwama: A day after a woman from Pulwama died after giving birth to a baby girl, who according to her family, died due to medical negligence at district hospital on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Basharat Qayoom, has called for a inquiry.

The inquiry memebrs include Additional District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Tehsildar Pulwama, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarter Pulwama, Dr Irfana Gani, BMO Pulwama and Dr Waseeqa, Gynecologist CHC Rajpora, reads an order copy in possession of Free Press Kashmir.

The victim has been identified as Anisa Jan, wife of Feroz Ahmad Mir of Rakh village of Pulwama.

One of her relatives earlier said that Anisa was in a good condition and operated upon at around 9pm on Saturday evening at district hospital Pulwama.

He alleged that despite informing the doctors that patient had severe pain, they didn’t pay any heed. “The doctors repeatedly told us her condition is good, however, at 3 am they said she need to be shifted to LD hospital and when we reached LD, doctors there informed us she is almost dead.”

The family members demanded thorough investigation into the matter.

A senior doctor at LD had earlier told reporters that patient had developed some complications at district hospital Pulwama and was referred in shock to LD, where she was received at around 4:30 am.

“We informed her family members that she is almost dead and as per protocol she was taken to theatre for resuscitation but she collapsed,” he said.
