Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has suspended a government lecturer, who had recently presented arguments in favour of Article 370 in the Supreme Court.
This action comes after Bhat presented arguments in support of Article 370 before the Supreme Court. Article 370, along with its associated Article 35-A, pertains to special autonomous status for Jammu and Kashmir, Tribune India reported.
Zahoor Ahmad Bhat’s suspension is a result of his appearance in the Supreme Court, where he advocated against the abrogation of Article 370.
The government’s decision to suspend him is pending an investigation into his conduct. The suspension is based on violations of various regulations, including the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Regulations, the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules of 1971, and the Jammu and Kashmir Leave Rules.
As part of the suspension, Bhat has been instructed to report to the Director of School Education in Jammu, effectively relieving him of his duties at the Government Higher Secondary School in Srinagar.
To carry out a thorough investigation into the matter, Subah Mehta, Joint Director of School Education in Jammu, has been appointed as the designated enquiry officer.
The purpose of this investigation is to uncover the circumstances surrounding Bhat’s appearance in the Supreme Court and to assess the extent of the alleged rule violations.
