Two killed, 7 injured in firing between rival outfits in Manipur

Imphal: In Narainsena area of Bishnupur district, a violent clash between two rival groups resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a village defense volunteer (VDV), and injuries to seven others.

The incident took place on Tuesday. According to the police, the VDV lost his life due to a mishandled bomb that suddenly detonated, while another person died later due to gunshot wounds.

The injured individuals were taken to a government hospital, where their condition has been reported as stable.

In a separate series of events, law enforcement successfully carried out operations in Imphal East and Bishnupur districts, leading to the arrest of four militants affiliated with various groups.

Among the arrested militants were two members associated with NSCN-IM and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), while the other two were identified as support members of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP).

These operations also resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, assorted ammunition, and powerful explosive devices.

Over the past 24 hours, search operations led by security forces were conducted in the outskirts and vulnerable regions of five valley districts, resulting in the recovery of seven stolen firearms, 25 different types of ammunition, and nine high-impact explosive devices in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
