New Delhi: Supreme Court rejects Union Territory of Ladakh administration plea challenging Jammu and Kashmir High Court order relating to the allotment of the party symbol, plough, for the upcoming Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election.

The top court today set aside the election for Hill Council Kargil scheduled on September 10 and directed UT’s administration to issue a fresh notification for the electoral exercise within seven days.

The SC held that National Conference is entitled to the symbol of “plough” for the election. It also imposed a penalty of Rs one lakh on Ladakh administration for filing the plea.
