VK Birdri is new IGP of Kashmir

Srinagar: Vidhi Kumar Birdi has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the region of Kashmir.

This appointment comes alongside the transfer and posting of Vijay Kumar, who will now assume the role of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law and Order in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

In addition, the officer shall also hold the charge of the post of IGP Armed Kashmir, till further orders, said Jammu and Kashmir Home Department.

Last month,  as Dilbagh Singh attained superannuation to culminate longest tenure as Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, assigned additional charge of the post to incumbent Special DG JK RR Swain (IPS).

According to the order by MHA, the 1991-AGMUT Cadre, Swain was scheduled to take the additional charge of the post from November 1.
