Poor technology tools prompting 40% of Indian workers to mull job change: Report

New Delhi: A recent report uncovered that approximately 40% of employees in India are contemplating leaving their jobs within the next six months due to the hindrance caused by inadequate technology tools, which cost companies up to half a year’s worth of work hours annually.

As per software major Adobe, both leaders (93%) and employees (87%) concur that subpar technology tools can impede productivity. Indian workers emphasized that technological accessibility significantly influences their decision to accept job offers, with a majority deeming it crucial (34%) or a top priority (50%).

Regarding artificial intelligence (AI), nearly all Indian employees (98%) perceive generative AI as beneficial and remarkable, with a similar sentiment (94%) for automation. While a significant majority of knowledge workers (88%) and leaders (94%) advocate for their companies to embrace generative AI, a small proportion (6%) remain hesitant.

The primary obstacles to its adoption, as identified by the report, include concerns about security, resistance from executives, and insufficient comprehensive understanding.

Girish Balachandran, Senior Director, and Head of Digital Media Business at Adobe India, emphasised, “The profound impact of automation and artificial intelligence on work cannot be underestimated, as they possess the potential to revolutionize traditional work paradigms. With appropriate preparation, organizations can pave the way for a future where productivity is genuinely enhanced, unlocking the complete potential of every employee.”

Furthermore, the report highlighted that although 94% of workers believe their companies should leverage generative AI, only 59% of companies are currently utilizing it. The study encompassed 626 leaders in director-level or higher positions and 1,385 employees.
