Srinagar: In response to heavy rainfall and as a precautionary measure, the administration in Kashmir Valley has announced the closure of all schools today.

Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri confirmed the decision, stressing upon safety concerns amid the downpour.

Additionally, the University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled today due to the prevailing weather conditions. A notification released by the university stated that fresh dates for the postponed exams will be announced soon.

In Kashmir, plains received occasional intense rainfall, and higher reaches saw fresh snowfall, causing water levels in rivers and streams to increase. These challenging weather conditions led to landslides and mudslides on important roads like the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The meteorological department predicts that these weather patterns will continue until the late afternoon of April 30th, after which the weather should generally be dry and clear starting from May 5th.
