New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has strongly criticised the international community on Monday for its apparent indifference to the escalating death toll in Palestine.

The ongoing Israeli bombardment on Gaza has claimed the lives of over 11,000 people, including 5,000 children.

In a statement on X, Priyanka Gandhi, serving as the Congress general secretary, expressed her profound dismay at the distressing situation in Gaza. She underscored the alarming statistic that, according to the WHO, a child is being killed every ten minutes. Priyanka Gandhi drew attention to the dire circumstances, such as infants being removed from incubators due to a lack of oxygen. She condemned the seeming lack of conscience among those supporting what she referred to as a genocide.

She strongly criticized the absence of a ceasefire, emphasizing that more bombings, violence, killings, and suffering persist.

Priyanka Gandhi called out governments supporting this destruction, questioning when it would be deemed enough.

“What a deplorable and disgraceful milestone…over 10,000 people killed in Gaza of which almost half are children. One child is being killed every ten minutes according to the WHO, and now tiny babies had to be removed from their incubators due to lack of oxygen and were left to die,” she tweeted.

The tweet mentioned, “Still, no shock to the conscience of those supporting this genocide, no ceasefire…just more bombs, more violence, more killings and more suffering. Shame on the governments supporting this destruction. When is it going to be enough?”

These remarks followed India’s decision to abstain from voting on a Jordan-drafted resolution advocating for a truce. Priyanka Gandhi had previously voiced being “shocked and ashamed” at India’s decision to abstain from voting for a Gaza ceasefire.
