Lucknow: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi voiced his dissatisfaction with the political narrative surrounding the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
His discontent was fuelled by recent remarks from Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena chief and son of the late Bal Thackeray, who stated that the temple inauguration fulfilled his father’s dream.
“No political party is talking about December 6, the egregious criminal act of demolishing a centuries old Masjid. The whole conversation is now about whether they’ll attend or not. The message to Indian Muslims is clear. We are expected to know our “aukaat” in today’s India. We are expected to acquiesce silently. The dreams of one or two fathers are inconsequential. We became an independent republic because of the dreams & struggles of millions of our ancestors. It’s shameful that a blatant criminal act has been elevated to a moment of national pride. December 6 is a black day for Indian democracy. It is a black day for the values of our freedom movement. It is a black day for rule of law,” Owaisi said in a tweet.
Owaisi emphasised the significance of December 6 as a dark day for Indian democracy, the values of the freedom movement, and the rule of law. He found it “shameful” that the demolition was being elevated as a moment of national pride, stating, “December 6 is a black day for Indian democracy. It is a black day for the values of our freedom movement. It is a black day for the rule of law.”
On January 10, Owaisi appealed to the youth of the Muslim community to remain vigilant regarding the actions of the BJP-led government.
He underscored the importance of keeping mosques inhabited in the country, saying, “Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our Masjid, and you are seeing what is being done there. Don’t you have pain in your hearts?”
