Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir saw a remarkable transformation in rainfall patterns throughout 2023. Starting the year with a 42% surplus in January, the region ended with a substantial 79% shortfall in December.

The unpredictable nature of weather in the area resulted in an overall 7% deficit in rainfall for the entire year.

This dramatic shift highlights the challenges posed by the fluctuating climate conditions, impacting agricultural practices, water resources, and overall regional ecosystems. The unexpected variations underscore the need for adaptive strategies and continuous monitoring to navigate the dynamic weather patterns in Jammu and Kashmir.

Local authorities and meteorological experts are closely analysing the data to better understand and prepare for such unpredictable shifts in the future.
