Srinagar: Uber has officially launched its services in Jammu and Kashmir, marking its entry into the region with the first stop being Srinagar.
The ride-hailing platform introduces two of its services, namely ‘UberGo’ and the outstation product ‘Intercity,’ providing convenient transportation options for both locals and tourists in the valley.
Shiva Shailendran, Head of Supply and Regional Operations, stated, “With the global ride-hailing app now available in Srinagar, tourists, as well as locals, will now find a trusted ride in and around Srinagar with a few taps on the app.”
He also emphasised that the launch of Uber’s service in the area would create meaningful earning opportunities for drivers, contributing to the economic growth of local communities.
This expansion into Srinagar aligns with Uber’s broader plans for growth in India, aiming to increase its footprint and diversify its product offerings in various regional markets.
Intercity, one of the offerings introduced in this expansion, allows users to book rides to tourist destinations around Srinagar, including popular spots like Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam.
Additionally, Intercity trips can be booked for return journeys lasting up to five days, providing flexibility for users to retain their Uber and driver while adding stops along the way.
To enhance journey planning, Uber has extended its booking window, allowing users to book rides up to 90 days in advance.
This feature benefits both riders and drivers, as it enables better travel planning for users and allows drivers to forecast their future earnings in advance, aiding in financial planning.
