Ramban: JKP books several for ‘blasphemous’ social media posts against Prophet Muhammad

Ramban: The Ramban district administration, condemning alleged instances of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), stated on Wednesday that the police have filed cases against several persons for making “derogatory posts” on social media.

Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, emphasised the administration’s strong stance against such “provocative behavior” and assured swift actions against the persons involved.

In a post on X, the DC of Ramban asserted the commitment to ensuring that those responsible face appropriate consequences, highlighting zero tolerance for actions that provoke. Chaudhary urged the public to prioritise communal harmony and demonstrate respect for all sentiments.

The police have registered cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups), 298 (wounding religious feelings), and 505 (public mischief with incitement), according to the DC.
