Ayodhya temple: Ram Lalla to take one hour rest as it is child deity, says chief priest

Ram Temple consecration: PM Modi, CM Yogi, RSS chief Bhagwat participate in rituals on January 22, 2024.

Ayodhya: In Ayodhya, upon the chief priest’s request at the Ram temple, Ram Lalla will be accorded a one-hour afternoon rest starting from Friday.

The chief priest asserts that the deity, being a child, should not be subjected to undue stress.

Following the consecration ceremony, and taking into account the surge in devotees, the temple trust has extended the ‘darshan’ time from 6 am to 10 pm. Since January 23, the deity has been roused at 4 am for a two-hour ritual, with ‘darshan’ commencing at 6 am and continuing until 10 pm. Evening rituals also take two hours.

Acharya Satyendra Das elaborated, stating, “Shri Ram Lalla is a five-year-old child and cannot endure continuous stress for 18 hours. To provide some respite to the child deity, it has been decided that the doors of the temple will remain closed from 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon, allowing Ram Lalla to take some rest.”
