Will Sangh Parivar abandon slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ coined by a Muslim, asks Kerala CM

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the slogans ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’ were first raised by two Muslims. He questioned whether the Sangh Parivar would be willing to abandon them.

During a rally against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Vijayan emphasized the significant contributions of Muslims to India’s history and independence movement.

He highlighted examples like Azimullah Khan, a Muslim who coined the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ and Abid Hasan, a Muslim diplomat who first raised ‘Jai Hind.’

Vijayan criticised the RSS-led BJP government for its implementation of the CAA, accusing it of marginalising Muslims. He argued that the CAA’s true intention is to render citizenship illegal for Muslim refugees while providing it to refugees of other religions.

The chief minister condemned the Congress party for its lack of sincerity in opposing the CAA and accused the Centre of permitting violence against anti-CAA protestors in Delhi. He also criticised the RSS, likening its ideology to that of Adolf Hitler and accusing it of labelling Christians, Muslims, and Communists as internal enemies of India.
