tjn ve k From today May 6 Monday, TRC buses will start playing election jingles for voter awareness across Srinagar. This move follows yesterday’s Nukkad Natak (street play) held at Lal Chowk.

During the Nukkad Natak, local artists delivered an act aimed at encouraging mass electoral participation.

Sapna Kotwal, Nodal Officer of Media at the Chief Electoral Office UT of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasised the importance of such programs in fostering a well-informed electorate and strengthening democracy.

According to Akhtar Hussain Qazi, Nodal Officer of the programme, these efforts aim to reach and empower voters through innovative platforms like street plays and bus jingles.

Yesterday’s Nukkad Natak received positive feedback from both artists and spectators, including noted folk singer Gulzar Ahmed Ganai, who stressed its significance in boosting electoral literacy, particularly among first-time voters ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Through the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Election Commission is striving to connect with diverse communities across the three constituencies.
