The Israeli military bombed a UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) building in Gaza late Sunday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Israeli state broadcaster KAN stated that Israeli forces claimed the building was a “military command center” used by Hamas.
In addition to this attack, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on two schools in Gaza where displaced families were seeking shelter.
Israel has previously targeted UNRWA facilities in Gaza. Palestinian health authorities said that more than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured since October 7, 2023 in Israeli strikes, with a majority being women and children.
After nearly seven months of genocide, large parts of Gaza are in ruins, leading to internal displacement for 85% of the population amid severe shortages of essential supplies like food, water, and medicine, as reported by the UN.
Furthermore, Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January suggested it is “plausible” that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and ordered measures to ensure humanitarian assistance reaches civilians there.
