New Delhi: The government of India has lowered the prices of 41 commonly used medications and six formulations for treating conditions such as diabetes, and heart and liver diseases, as reported by IANS.
According to a notification from the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), antacids, multivitamins, and antibiotics are among the medications that will become more affordable.
Pharmaceutical companies have been directed to immediately inform dealers and stockists about the reduced prices of these medicines.
This decision was made during the 143rd meeting of the NPPA to ensure that essential medications remain affordable for the public.
India, which has over 100 million diabetes patients, stands to benefit significantly from this price reduction.
Last month, the Department of Pharmaceuticals issued its annual revised ceiling prices for 923 scheduled drug formulations and updated retail prices for 65 formulations, effective April 1.
