Annual Machail Mata yatra in Kishtwar likely to begin on July 25

Kishtwar: The annual pilgrimage to Machail Mata in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir is set to start on July 25 and conclude in the first week of September.

Preparations are underway, with the administration making arrangements for the yatra, various reports said.

Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar reviewed the preparations, directing departments to ensure road connectivity, heli services, amenities, mobile connectivity, traffic management, security, power, drinking water, and medical facilities.

Kumar emphasised sanitation and cleanliness in the ecologically sensitive region. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure Yatri Niwas is fully operational and to strengthen structures near the temple.

JPDCL is set to install a new transformer for uninterrupted power supply. The Tourism Department is launching a publicity campaign to promote the yatra, including audio, print, and digital media, and installing flexes at key locations.

The pilgrimage involves a 33 km trek from Gulabgarh through scenic nature, including hot and cold water springs.

The shrine of Machail Mata is situated in the Padder Valley, known for its unblemished beauty with hills, glaciers, and tributaries of the Chenab River.
