After Bhavana, another mosque demolished in Delhi’s Mangolpuri

The mosque in Delhi’s Mangolpuri was demolished on June 25, 2024, under heavy police presence.

Protests broke out in northwest Delhi’s Mangolpuri area following the demolition of a mosque deemed ‘illegal.’

The mosque was demolished on Tuesday morning under heavy police presence.

The action was prompted by a complaint from Hindutva member Preet Sirohi, who had also previously lodged a complaint leading to another mosque’s demolition in Bhavana.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), accompanied by local police and paramilitary forces, arrived at Mangolpuri’s Y block in the morning for the demolition, according to PTI news agency.

The demolition started at 6am, drawing locals who began protesting.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Jimmy Chiram told PTI news agency that although some people objected to the demolition, the situation was now under control.

He mentioned that after demolishing a few walls, the operation was paused because some parts of the structure were robust and needed heavy machinery.
