Cow vigilantes attack 2 Hindu men transporting lemons in Rajasthan

Churu: Two Hindu men from Haryana were attacked by cow vigilantes in Rajasthan’s Churu district on Sunday night, June 30, over accusations of transporting cattle, although their pickup truck was actually carrying lemons.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a mob armed with sticks repeatedly beating Sonu Bishnoi, 29, and Sundar Bishnoi, 35, as they lay on the ground, Sisasat.com reported.

The mob also hit them with chappals and kicked their heads.

The pickup truck, which was transporting lemons from Jaipur to Bathinda, was stopped near the Lasedi toll plaza on the national highway by a mob of cow vigilantes who arrived in a jeep and on motorcycles. The attackers accused the men of transporting cows and assaulted them.

The severely injured men were taken to the hospital by the police, who have filed an FIR for attempted murder. Five people were arrested on Tuesday, July 2, in connection with the attack.

There has been a rise in lynching cases by cow vigilantes in the country since the Lok Sabha election results, with these brutalities often targeting members of the Muslim community.

In related incidents, on June 16, a meat shop in Haryana was raided by cow vigilantes, injuring the Muslim shop owner and two Hindu men who were there to buy chicken. On June 15, vigilantes armed with guns raided Haryana’s Mewat village over alleged cattle slaughter, attacking two Muslim men.
