Mumbai: Flight and local train services in Mumbai were disrupted on Monday morning due to heavy rains, causing city traffic issues. The IMD warned that the heavy rains would continue throughout the day.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport reported that heavy rains and low visibility led to the suspension of runway operations from 2:22 am to 3:40 am. Flights were diverted to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Indore. Priority is being given to arrivals, delaying departures to accommodate the diverted flights.

Local train services on Central Railway routes were also affected but are improving. Train services between CSMT and Thane have been restored at a restricted speed, and Mail Express trains are being moved. However, fast line services between CSMT and Thane were suspended due to waterlogging, with suburban services running on the slow line. Harbour corridor services were temporarily suspended due to waterlogging at Chunabhatti. Officials have advised the public to avoid travel unless necessary.

Central Railway officials that Harbour Line services were running normally until 9:30 am, but heavy rains caused water accumulation at several places.
