Jammu: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi, while meeting government of India minister Jitendra Singh, conveyed his strong commitment to serving the forces in their highest tradition.
He expressed his firm belief and confidence, stating, “The army is prepared and ready to meet any challenge to thwart the designs of the nation’s adversaries.” He also emphasised his focus on promoting a culture of trust, empowering junior officers, and ensuring the well-being of soldiers, as well as the welfare of veterans and Veer Naris.
In their meeting at North Block, this was the first interaction between the two since General Dwivedi assumed his new role as COAS. Singh praised the Indian Army’s role in managing the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and congratulated General Dwivedi, highlighting his extensive experience and service history.
Singh noted the added significance of General Dwivedi’s background, as he was commissioned into the JK Rifles regiment in 1984 and is well-versed with the conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also addressed various aspects of security.
Singh commended the Indian Army as one of the best forces globally, lauding its courage, discipline, and commitment to national integrity and sovereignty. He highlighted the army’s history of valor and selflessness, their role in defending borders, providing humanitarian aid during disasters, and participating in peacekeeping missions worldwide.
