Srinagar: Special prayers were held today at Jama Masjid in Srinagar, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in response to rain deficiency and rising heatwave in Kashmir.
The valley is experiencing severe agricultural distress due to the prolonged dry spell, impacting the annual crops of farmers and horticulturists.
The situation has become increasingly dire as the lack of rainfall has led to water scarcity, threatening both livelihoods and the region’s food security. If this continues, farmers are fearing worst losses in this year’s harvest.
The special prayers, attended by a large congregation, reflected the community’s collective hope for relief from the ongoing climatic challenges.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in his sermon, stressed upon the need for unity and faith during these trying times, urging the community to come together and pray for rain.
