Teenage boy’s body retrieved from Jhelum in Anantnag’s Sangam

Anantnag: Body of a teenage boy, who drowned in river Jhelum at Halmulla Sangam in Bijbehara, was retrieved this morning, an official said.

The official told GNS that a joint rescue operation by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Police and local authorities had been making efforts to locate the boy, and after many hours of the searches he (boy) was located around 10:45am today.

The boy identified as Mohd Shabir, son of Noor Mohammad, a resident of Budhan Reasi, drowned on Sunday afternoon.

Confirming the retrieval of the body from the site, a police official said that the body has been handed over to the family for last rites.
