Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh once democracy is restored, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy told PTI. Wazed accused Pakistan’s ISI of instigating the ongoing unrest.

During an interview with the news agency, Joy confirmed that the 76-year-old former prime minister will come back to the country, though it’s uncertain whether she will resume an active political role. He emphasised that the Sheikh Mujib family and the Awami League will not abandon their people.

Joy expressed gratitude to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for ensuring Hasina’s safety and urged India to help build international pressure for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh.

He highlighted the importance of Awami League’s continued involvement in the country’s political landscape and criticised the deteriorating situation, comparing it to Afghanistan. He also pointed to circumstantial evidence suggesting that Pakistan’s ISI is behind the unrest.
