US forces successfully destroyed two Iranian-backed Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles, a ground control station, and an uncrewed surface vessel in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The statement, as reported by various international media, from CENTCOM highlighted that these weapons posed an immediate threat to US and coalition forces, as well as merchant vessels in the region, and condemned the Houthis’ actions as a danger to regional stability.

Additionally, the UK’s maritime security agency issued an alert after a missile attack on a vessel near Yemen. The vessel, targeted by attackers using fast boats and a rocket-propelled grenade, sustained no damage, and the crew remained safe.

These developments come amid rising tensions in West Asia, following recent high-profile killings and ongoing Houthi missile and drone attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The US has responded by deploying additional military assets to the region.
